Document an Apartment Viewing with Timestamped Photos

If you visit several apartments in one weekend, you know the problem: by Sunday evening there are 180 photos on your iPhone, and nobody remembers which bathroom belongs to which apartment. Photos that write down the room, date and location themselves solve that.

Why ordinary photos fall short at viewings

The Photos app does store capture time and location in the metadata, but:

The metadata is invisible unless you open the detail view.
Sharing via messengers or email often strips EXIF data.
Which room you are looking at is recorded nowhere, and two white bathrooms look identical in photos.

To compare several apartments you need all three facts inside the image itself: room, moment, address.

How documenting with a room list works

With a document camera like Foto Notes, a viewing goes like this:

Before the viewing: Create a room list once: kitchen, living room, bathroom, bedroom, hallway, basement. The list stays saved and works for every future viewing.
Write your note once: Add room, date, time and GPS location as building blocks to your note; they fill in with the current values on every shot.
While shooting: Before each room, switch the entry in the room list (two taps) and take the picture. The text is burned directly into the pixels of the photo.

Practical tips from real use

Address instead of coordinates: At viewings, the place name (street/city) is more helpful than GPS coordinates, and Foto Notes can show either.
A photo of the doorbell panel at the start of each viewing acts like a chapter divider in your photo stream.
Name defects explicitly: For anything suspicious, add a free-text note (“mold on window reveal”) instead of just the room name. The photo then documents the condition you found, still traceable weeks later at the handover.

A common mistake: labeling photos afterwards

Apps that put text on photos after the fact have two weaknesses. First, the editing step after the viewing is exactly the step that never happens in real life. Second, a label added later documents your memory rather than the capture, so it is not proof. A timestamp is only credible when it is created at the moment of capture and visibly part of the image.
